Terms of service
Effective November 4, 2026
In short: Designbench is a free course in beta. Use it to learn, don't abuse it or copy it, and understand that it's educational material, not a guarantee of any interview result.
1. Who these terms are with
Designbench (designbench.dev) is a system design course based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada ("Designbench", "we", "us"). By using the site you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
2. The service
Designbench offers interactive lessons, quizzes and scored design reviews about system design. It is currently a free beta: features may change, be added or be removed, and the site may sometimes be unavailable. We may stop offering the service, and will try to give signed-in users reasonable notice and a chance to download their data first.
3. Your account
- You can use the lessons without an account. Scored design reviews and saved progress need a free account.
- Give a real email address you control, keep your password private, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account.
- You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough where you live to agree to these terms.
- You can delete your account at any time from the account page.
4. Acceptable use
Please don't:
- try to get into other people's accounts or data, probe or break the site's security, or get around its limits (such as the limit on score submissions);
- overload the site, or scrape, copy or download its content in bulk, including with automated tools;
- submit fake scores, or use the site to break the law or harm others.
If you find a security problem, please email us instead of testing it on real accounts. We may suspend or delete accounts that break these rules.
5. Our content
The lessons, text, simulations, code, quizzes, design reviews and the Designbench name and design belong to us. You may use them for your own learning and interview preparation, and you may link to any page. You may not copy, republish, sell or build a competing course from them without our written permission. Short quotes with a link back are fine.
Third-party names and marks (such as Google, GitHub and the technologies we teach) belong to their owners and are used only to describe them.
6. Educational material only
We work hard to make the content accurate, but system design involves trade-offs and the numbers in simulations are illustrative. The site is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We don't promise that using it will get you a job, pass an interview or suit your own systems. Check anything important before you rely on it in production.
7. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for lost data, profits or opportunities, arising from your use of the site. Because the service is free, our total liability for any claim is limited to CAD $50. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service grows (for example, if paid plans are added). We'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell signed-in users before they take effect. If you keep using the site after that, the new terms apply.
9. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute will be handled by the courts of British Columbia, unless the law where you live gives you the right to use your local courts.
